The Westside catcher was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 in the loss. Bobby Roche, credited with the win, is now 3-1. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. The Cyclones bumped their record to 26-23 with this latest triumph.
Had Hedde Boland not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Boland hit a 2-run double. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Cyclones.
"Enjoyed this one," Boland told the Coney Island Times. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
