| Pelicans Prevail, 3-2, Over St. Paul | St. Petersburg beat St. Paul at Saints Ballpark, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Yukio Inouye, who earned player of the game honors. In 6.2 innings, Inouye surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Their 23-25 record puts the Pelicans 4th in the Donnie Moore League Dusty Baker Division.
David Tapia drove in one run for St. Petersburg. The slick-fielding shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ismael Herrera. It was his 13th RBI of the season.
Afterward, Pelicans manager Dennis Inman was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
