| Hornets Turn Back New Orleans, 1-0 | Mark Doggett never let the Jedi Knights get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his cutter, to pitch the Hornets to a 1-0 win. The winning pitcher was Doggett, now 2-4. He tossed 5.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. With the victory, the Hornets record now stands at 20-28.
The Hornets got a big at-bat from left fielder Roland Philippe. For the game, Philippe was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. In the top of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Bethesda a 1-0 lead.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Philippe told a Bethesda Observer reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
