| Sting Stymie Nichols, Take 7-1 Win | The Houston Sting got a stellar performance from pitcher Jim Riggs, who handcuffed the Nichols offense en route to a 7-1 win at The Pond. Houston reliever Jim Riggs was credited with the win, to go to 6-1. Mike Denny took the loss for Nichols. With the victory, the Sting record now stands at 21-24.
The Sting got a big at-bat from catcher Rob Coronado. For the game, Coronado went 1-5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Houston a 2-0 lead.
"Enjoyed this one," Coronado told the Houston Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
