| Garcia Belts Bunch of Base Hits | After a 5-hit effort to lead Kingwood's 12-7 victory over the Chippewa River Chiefs, right fielder Tobias Garcia told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the SINGLE A-level is really something special."
The 21-year-old player earned his accolades today at The Reservation with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the River Chiefs.
"His swing is getting there," said Knights skipper Chris Schell, who spoke glowingly of Garcia after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Tobias did that to perfection today."
Tobias Garcia singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 9th.
This season Garcia is hitting at a .376 pace with 4 home runs, 32 RBIs and has scored 34 times. |
