| Panthers Solve Cyclones, 5-2 | The rain came, as predicted, but the Charleston Panthers and Coney Island Cyclones were able to complete their ballgame.
The Charleston Panthers knocked off the Coney Island Cyclones, 5-2, at Franklin Mountains Field. Morihiko Eda, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Charleston won. The shortstop went 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Harry Plyler, the winner, improved to 2-2. He held the Cyclones to no earned runs on 2 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1.
Mike McAndrews aided the Charleston cause with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the designated hitter went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
Eda told a Charleston Chronicle reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
Charleston now has a 3-game win streak.
