| Jedi Knights Stymie Nichols, Take 3-0 Win | New Orleans starter Kevin Maxwell pitched effectively against the Nichols Gnats at The Pond. The right-hander led his team to a 3-0 win. Maxwell got the win, improving to 4-2. He allowed 3 hits and walked 4 over 6.1 innings. Maxwell allowed no earned runs. New Orleans now sits at 24-17, while Nichols falls to 21-19.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the third, with the game tied, Paul Stasi was at the plate when New Orleans scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Jedi Knights to go in front, 1-0.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said New Orleans manager Pedro Gonzáles.
