| Emeralds Prevail, 5-4, Over Westside | The Eugene Emeralds defeated the Westside Road Warriors, 5-4, in Donnie Moore League action at Prefontaine Park, with Eugene pitcher Larry Hall named player of the game. Hall, now 2-3, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing no earned runs. Eugene, at 19-23, sits in 5th place in the Donnie Moore League Tommy Lasorda Division.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, first baseman Greg McFadden came through big-time for the Emeralds. With Eugene leading 4-0, he belted a solo home run.
"You can't take yourself too seriously," Hall told the Eugene Citizen. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
