| Hornets Lose 4-2 Decision to Rockhounds | Midland starter John Denny pitched effectively against the Eureka Hornets at The Nest. The right-hander led his team to a 4-2 win. Denny got the win, improving to 6-2. He allowed 5 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. Denny allowed 2 earned runs. Austin Price finished the game for Midland and earned his 3rd save.
The Rockhounds got a big at-bat from right fielder Jejomar Butardo. For the game, Butardo went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 17th hit of the season gave Midland a 3-2 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Denny told the Midland Bulletin.
Midland goes to 21-30, Eureka to 31-21.
