| Pelicans Lose, 7-3, at Abbey Stadium | Cambridge Orphans starter Dustin Thomas pitched a strong game against the St. Petersburg Pelicans at Abbey Stadium, leading the Orphans to a 7-3 win. Cambridge reliever David Moreno picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Barend van Veen was saddled with the loss. The last-place Orphans improved to 12-21.
Cambridge took a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out, catcher Steve Bathurst hit a 3-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
Bathurst expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
