| Sting Win at Bethesda, 6-1 | With third baseman Lupe Vazquez leading the charge, the Houston Sting defeated the Bethesda Hornets, 6-1, at Hornets Field. Vazquez, who is tied for 6th in the DML in doubles with 9, went 1-3 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. Houston reliever Jordan Little picked up the win, upping his record to 1-3. Jesus Pacheco was saddled with the loss. The last-place Sting improved to 13-21.
The Sting got a big at-bat from first baseman Armando Flores. For the game, Flores went 1 for 4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Houston a 2-0 lead.
Flores expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
