Garcia, Panthers Rough Up River Chiefs

The Charleston Panthers had no problem beating the Chippewa River Chiefs, 13-3, at The Reservation. Sergio Garcia led the way. He slugged 2 home runs. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3 for Charleston. Danny Medina, credited with the win, is now 6-0. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 6 innings. Mike Vineyard was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.

Leo Santana, who is tied for 3rd in the LBL with a .653 slugging percentage, aided the Charleston cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth. For the game, the catcher was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

Garcia expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."

The 5th-place Panthers improved to 15-18.
