| Road Warriors Continue Skid Thanks to Curione, Black Squirrels | The Tree City Black Squirrels trumped the Westside Road Warriors, 5-3, at The Nut House. Tree City first baseman Jose Curione was named player of the game for his performance. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Tree City reliever Bruce Cunningham picked up the win to move to 4-1. Dave Cespedes suffered the loss. Tree City is now 15-17.
The Black Squirrels got a big at-bat from right fielder Joel Vargas. For the game, Vargas was 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 4th double of the season gave Tree City a 4-3 lead.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Curione said.
