Pelicans Jolt Dancin' Outlaws with Late Rally

The St. Petersburg Pelicans did just enough to secure a 2-1 victory over the West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws at Billy Mathews Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Tony Cisneros, who captured player of the game honors. Marlon Douglas sewed up the save, his 8th. The defending champion Pelicans have struggled a bit to find their groove this season, but improve to 15-16 with the win.

Had Kennie Moody not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Moody hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Pelicans.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said West Virginia skipper Michel Hérault, "and it cost us."
