Gnats Fall to .500 After Loss to Orphans

With shortstop Carlos Arellano leading the charge, the Cambridge Orphans defeated the Nichols Gnats, 4-3, at The Pond. Arellano, who is tied for 2nd in the DML in runs scored with 22, was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Rusty Tine got the save, the 4th for him this season. Cambridge, now 11-19, is off to a slow start.

Cambridge used the timely hitting of Toshihisa Higgins to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Orphans on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Higgins said after the game.
