| Hornets Continue Skid Thanks to Barreto, Pelicans | The St. Petersburg Pelicans dealt the Bethesda Hornets a 7-4 loss at Hornets Field. Octavio Barreto was the star on offense. He went 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. St. Petersburg reliever Tony Cisneros picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-1. Nolan Ryan Jr. was collared with the loss. The Hornets, now 8-15, continue their poor start.
Jeff Cross, who is tied for 10th in the DML in bases on balls with 13, chipped in for St. Petersburg with a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Barreto told the St. Petersburg Gazette.
