| Hornets Edge Past Vikings, 2-1 | Dublin got a terrific performance from pitcher Nelson Martinez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Bethesda Hornets. Bethesda won the Valhalla Summit contest, 2-1. Martinez was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings of 2-hit ball. Bethesda reliever Allen Westmoreland picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-1. Luis Herrera was collared with the loss. The win brings the Hornets to 8-10, a soft start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
Guillermo Mayen's hit in the top of the tenth was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a curveball from Luis Herrera for a solo home run. It put Bethesda in front, 2-1.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Mayen said.
