| Emeralds Lose, 5-4, at The Royal Colosseum | The Atlantic City Kings did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the Eugene Emeralds at The Royal Colosseum. Nobody did more than pitcher José Vásquez, who captured player of the game honors. Vásquez got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. Vásquez allowed 4 earned runs. Carlos Hernandez picked up the save, his 4th.
The Kings got a big at-bat from left fielder Kevin Bryant. For the game, Bryant went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Atlantic City a 3-0 lead.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Eugene manager Ricardo Martínez.
At 10-5, the Kings have played well so far.
