| Cyclones Stun River Chiefs, 4-2 | The Cyclones grabbed a win, 4-2, at The Reservation, overcoming a fine effort from Chippewa pitcher Kevin Miller. Miller went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Coney Island reliever Jason Ruby was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Kevin Miller took the loss. Every game is important, even these early ones, if the Cyclones hope to make a postseason run.
Had Hedde Boland not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Boland hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Cyclones.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Boland.
