Vikings Come Up Short at St. Petersburg

The Dublin Vikings got a superb performance from pitcher Eddie Pena. Still, it wasn't enough to beat St. Petersburg. The Pelicans won the game, 4-3. In spite of the loss, Pena was named the player of the game. He threw 8 innings of 2-hit ball. The winner was Manny Lima, who threw 98 pitches over 6 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits. Marlon Douglas earned the save for St. Petersburg, his 3rd.

Early in the game, catcher Juan Carrillo had a grand slam home run for St. Petersburg. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Pelicans on top, 4-3.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Carrillo said.

St. Petersburg, now 6-3, has gotten their season off to a good start.
