| Emeralds Get One-Run Win at Westside | The Eugene Emeralds grabbed a 6-5 win over the Westside Road Warriors at Road Warriors Field. Eugene left fielder Steve Sexton was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once to earn player of the game honors. Jung-sang Lee earned the win to go to 2-0. He allowed 4 earned runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. Josh Jackson recorded his 2nd save for Eugene.
Sexton contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Eugene in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Sexton took a fastball from Wilfredo Sandoval and stroked the home run to left. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Emeralds to leap in front, 6-3.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Sexton said after the game.
With the win, Eugene improves its record to 3-4.
