| Stogies Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Aces | The Havana Stogies racked up a win at Sin City Stadium, bumping off the Las Vegas Aces, 3-2. Jorge Salazar, who started for Havana, pitched effectively for his team. In 7 innings, Salazar surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. The Stogies, now 4-1, have been on a roll in the early going.
Had Victor Huaracha not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Huaracha hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Stogies.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Havana skipper Reynaldo Vázquez.
