| Emeralds Shut Out Black Squirrels | The Eugene Emeralds topped the Tree City Black Squirrels, 5-0, in Donnie Moore League action at Prefontaine Park. The player of the game was Eugene pitcher and Jecheon, South Korea native Jung-sang Lee. Lee got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 4 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. Lee allowed no earned runs. Josh Jackson nailed down his 1st save.
The Emeralds got a big at-bat from right fielder Jared Carpenter. For the game, Carpenter went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Eugene a 2-0 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Lee told the Eugene Citizen.
The Emeralds raised their record to 1-1.
