| Sting Lose, 6-4, at Hornets Field | The Bethesda Hornets opened their 2038 season with a triumph over the Houston Sting at Hornets Field. The final score was 6-4. Bethesda shortstop Mel Venegas had a big game. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Bethesda reliever Brock Baran was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Blake Victoria took the loss. Allen Westmoreland earned the save, his 1st, for the Hornets.
Venegas came through with some timely hitting for Bethesda. With the score 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth and one down, Venegas hit a 1-0 cutter for a run-scoring single. His 3rd hit of the season made it 3-2, Bethesda.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Bethesda manager Bob Reece.
