Stogies Win in Extras

The Havana Stogies defeated the South Carolina Bombers, 6-5. Earning player of the game honors was catcher David Newsome, who went 1-2 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Havana is now 28-20, 3½ games up in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division.

The Stogies got a big at-bat from catcher Ernie Horswill. For the game, Horswill went 1-1. In the bottom of the 12th, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 19th hit of the season gave Havana a 6-5 lead.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Horswill. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
