| Black Bears Turn Back Rock River, 5-3 | The Rat Hole was the site of a competitive game between the Rock River Rats and Fraser Valley Black Bears.
The Black Bears faced a stiff challenge from Rock River pitcher Mike Allamon, but persevered to claim a win at The Rat Hole. The final score was 5-3. Allamon went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Angel Ponce earned the win for Fraser Valley. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 7 hits, while striking out 1. With the win, he raised his record to 7-3.
Had Mark Wolter not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Wolter hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Black Bears.
"It was a good effort all around," said Wolter.
The first-place Black Bears have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
