| Beavers Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Armada | Quebec got a terrific performance from pitcher Luis Mendez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Portland Beavers. Portland won the Lucky 7 Ballpark contest, 5-4. Mendez was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. The Beavers have an impressive 30-18 record.
Phil Kinch, who is on pace for 115 RBI this season, chipped in for Portland with a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Kinch told reporters after the game.
