| Hellcats Come Back Late to Clip Vesuvius | The Jacksonville Hellcats took Cape Verde pitcher Francisco Morales's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Conduit Caverns. The final score had Jacksonville getting past the Vesuvius, 1-0. Morales went 7.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run, striking out 7. Jacksonville reliever Joost Evers picked up the win, upping his record to 3-5. Francisco Morales took the loss. The 4th-place Hellcats improved to 65-81.
Had Danny Fernandez not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Fernandez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Hellcats.
In postgame comments to the Jacksonville Chronicle, Fernandez said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
