| Hellcats Throttle Ducks, 6-1 | The Jacksonville Hellcats topped the Long Island Ducks by the score of 6-1, with the biggest share of the credit going to shortstop Mel Venegas. Venegas went 2 for 4 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Hellcats on the day. The winner was Jacksonville reliever Steve Paul, now 4-8. The loser was Francisco Valdez. Steve Harvey converted his 1st save in 1 tries.
Danny Fernandez aided the Jacksonville cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh. For the game, the left fielder went 2-5 with 2 singles.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Venegas told reporters after the game.
