| Marti Goes Off, But Wolverines Win | The Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats got a superb performance from right fielder Mike Marti, but the Wichita Wolverines still won the game, 9-7. Marti was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Wichita reliever Manny Anchondo picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-0. Tien Tran-Dinh was collared with the loss. The second-place Wolverines now have a 4-game winning streak.
The Wolverines got a big at-bat from third baseman Stephen Todino. For the game, Todino was 1 for 4 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 2nd triple of the season gave Wichita a 7-6 lead.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Todino, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
