| Ducks Trip Beehive in Extras | Fans who congregated at The Hive were treated to extra-inning drama.
Long Island Ducks starter Francisco Valdez was in fine form against the Madison Beehive at The Hive, leading his team to a 5-4 win. The 4th-place Ducks are now 63-71, the Beehive 61-71.
The Ducks got a big at-bat from first baseman Jose Lopez. For the game, Lopez went 1 for 3 with a double, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch. In the top of the 11th, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 21st double of the season gave Long Island a 5-4 lead.
"Francisco is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Long Island manager John Cook.
