| Cooke Goes Wild, But Red Bulls Win | The Rock River Rats got a superb performance from first baseman Scott Cooke. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Riverside. The Red Bulls won the game, 5-4. In spite of the loss, Cooke was named the player of the game. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The winner was Hidenori Tomita in relief. His record improves to 5-0. José Mendoza took the loss. Riverside goes to 74-58. The win puts them 4˝ games up in their division.
The Red Bulls got a big at-bat from first baseman Kiyotaka Sugimoto. For the game, Sugimoto was 2-4 with 2 triples, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing triple. His 11th triple of the season gave Riverside a 5-4 lead.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Rock River manager Will Hunt. "The effort was great."
