Dedicated fans at The Coliseum weathered the storm to watch their beloved Spartans beat the Vesuvius.

Sandy Springs starter Luis Leyva had a strong outing against the Cape Verde Vesuvius at The Coliseum. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 6-1 win. Sandy Springs is now 57-70, while Cape Verde is 68-59.

David Chavez aided the Sandy Springs cause with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the second baseman was 1-2 with a hit by pitch.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Leyva said.
