| Ugarte Slugs Aces to 14-3 Win | The Las Vegas Aces beat the Hawaii Islanders, 14-3, at Aloha Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of right fielder Ricardo Ugarte, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Salah bin Atif got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 7.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 12 and walking 4. Las Vegas, at 21-25, occupies 4th place in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division.
It could have been a different outcome for Las Vegas, had it not been for Alex Diaz, the 23-year old second baseman . Diaz contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning to put Las Vegas up, 3-2.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Ugarte after the game.
