| Spartans Get Close Win Over Black Bears | The Fraser Valley Black Bears got a sterling performance from designated hitter Alex Esparza, but the Spartans still prevailed, 5-4. Esparza was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He went 1-3 with 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Sandy Springs reliever Josh Crowe was the winner. His record is now 2-3. The losing pitcher was Wei-sng Mak. The Spartans, at 55-68, sit in last place in the TMLAA Bruce Bochy Division.
