| Tight Tilt Goes to Vesuvius, 3-2 | The Vesuvius had to overcome a fine performance from Marysville pitcher Luis Salcido to grab a 3-2 win at Conduit Caverns. Salcido allowed 3 earned runs over 6.2 innings. Cape Verde reliever Justin Beltrani picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-3. Luis Salcido was collared with the loss. The Vesuvius bumped their record to 66-55 with this latest triumph.
The Vesuvius beat the Monarchs with some clutch hitting. The home run by Josh Maillard in the bottom of the fourth is a good example. With two down, Maillard gave his team the lead, 3-1, when he came through with the big hit.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Maillard said.
