| Cornhuskers Edge Past Black Bears, 8-7 | Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at The Stetson Bowl.
The DeKalb Cornhuskers trumped the Fraser Valley Black Bears, 8-7, at The Stetson Bowl. DeKalb shortstop Augusto Cavazos was named player of the game for his performance. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. DeKalb reliever Danny Rodriguez picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-0. Ricardo Betancourt was collared with the loss.
Miguel Garza's hit in the top of the 17th was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a cutter from Ricardo Betancourt for a run-scoring single. It put DeKalb in front, 8-7.
"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said DeKalb field general Eduardo Varerla.
