| Rats Lose, 7-3, at The Coliseum | Tommy Wilson did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Rock River Rats from losing, 7-3, to the Sandy Springs Spartans at The Coliseum. Wilson went 3-3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Sandy Springs reliever Edwin Roman picked up the win to move to 5-10. Kazue Fujita suffered the loss. Rock River now has a 5-game losing streak.
The Spartans got a big at-bat from left fielder Mike Carney. For the game, Carney was 3-4 with a triple and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 42nd hit of the season gave Sandy Springs a 5-3 lead.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Carney told a Sandy Springs Chronicle reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
