| Cornhuskers Roll Black Bears, 7-4 | DeKalb and Fraser Valley duked it out at The Stetson Bowl and the Cornhuskers came out victorious.
The DeKalb Cornhuskers beat the Fraser Valley Black Bears, 7-4, at The Stetson Bowl. The win was largely due to the efforts of shortstop Augusto Cavazos, who captured player of the game honors. He went 1-3 with a double and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. DeKalb reliever Danny Rodriguez picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Raul Rosado was collared with the loss. Kirk Winman got the save, his 11th in 12 chances.
The Cornhuskers got a big at-bat from second baseman Miguel Garza. For the game, Garza was 1 for 4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the third, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 2nd triple of the season gave DeKalb a 3-1 lead.
"We'll savor this win," Garza told the DeKalb Herald, "then get ready for the next game."
The second-place Cornhuskers have won 5 consecutive games.
