| Monarchs Turn Back Cape Verde, 6-5 | The Marysville Monarchs eked out a 6-5 win versus the Cape Verde Vesuvius at Conduit Caverns. Nobody did more than pitcher Roger Katz, who captured player of the game honors. Katz got the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed 5 hits and walked 0 over 6.2 innings. Katz allowed 3 earned runs. Marysville is now 81-42, 14 games up in the RCLAA Gene Mauch Division.
Jeff Hannon aided the Marysville cause with a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth. For the game, the third baseman went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"This win gets us that much closer to where we want to be," Katz said in postgame remarks.
