| Spartans Take Nail-Biter Over Bulldogs | Spartans left fielder Mike Carney put his stamp on his team's 6-4 win over the Spokane Bulldogs. Carney was 1 for 4 with a home run and 3 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for Sandy Springs in the contest. The win was credited to Miguel Padilla in relief. His record improves to 6-4. Danny Stewart took the loss. With the win over Spokane, the Spartans improved to 51-66.
Carney had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the 13th. On a 2-2 fastball from Danny Stewart, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the Spartans a 6-4 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Carney.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Carney.
