| Spartans Come Back Late to Clip Bulldogs | Sandy Springs Spartans starter Luis Leyva was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Spokane Bulldogs, 4-3. Sandy Springs reliever Kyung-hwan Ho picked up the win to move to 2-2. Tomas Romirez suffered the loss. Sandy Springs goes to 50-66, Spokane to 56-59.
Had David Chavez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Chavez hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Spartans.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Chavez, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
