Pioneers Prevail, 3-1, Over San Francisco
The Vancouver Pioneers went home winners at Golden Gate Park, thanks in large part to starter Neil Coffin. Coffin silenced the San Francisco Earthquakes, enabling Vancouver to grab the 3-1 win. Coffin, now 3-5, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. With the win, Vancouver goes to 16-28, while the Earthquakes fall to 22-22.

The Pioneers got a big at-bat from catcher Milt Mezzanotte. For the game, Mezzanotte went 1 for 3 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 6th double of the season gave Vancouver a 1-0 lead.

Mezzanotte told a Vancouver Times reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
