| Black Knights Get Close Win Over Stogies | Katsuhiko Shimizu left his imprint on the 4-3 Brooklyn win against the Havana Stogies. Shimizu, who is a two-time All-Star, was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Brooklyn reliever Ji-hwan Yea picked up the win, upping his record to 5-0. Mudasser Sabzvari shouldered the loss. The Black Knights bumped their record to 24-20 with this latest triumph.
Shimizu had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a 0-1 fastball from Mudasser Sabzvari, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Black Knights a 4-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Shimizu.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Brooklyn manager Tim Duncan.
