| Ray Goes Off, But Cornhuskers Win | DeKalb and Youngstown duked it out at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum and the Cornhuskers came out victorious.
Youngstown first baseman Mike Ray had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Ray slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice, even as DeKalb beat the Tune-Ups, 8-6. Ray was named the player of the game despite the loss. Kirk Winman earned his 5th save in 5 chances.
The Cornhuskers got a big at-bat from third baseman Chris Bramel. For the game, Bramel went 1 for 2 with 3 walks. In the top of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 7th hit of the season gave DeKalb a 6-5 lead.
"We take it day by day here," said Bramel, "and today was a good one for us."
The Cornhuskers bumped their record to 52-48 with this latest triumph.
