| Cornhuskers Clip Hellcats in Tight Contest | The Jacksonville Hellcats got a superb performance from catcher Jody Fread, but the DeKalb Cornhuskers still won the game, 3-2. Fread was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Tom Pick got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.2 innings. The Cornhuskers bumped their record to 50-48 with this latest triumph.
Eric Farlin was 2-3 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI for DeKalb. The 28-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jason Aves. It was his 49th RBI of the season.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Farlin.
