| Monarchs Fall Short, 5-4, at Wichita | The Wichita Wolverines did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the Marysville Monarchs at Howling Park. Nobody did more than pitcher David Diaz, who captured player of the game honors. Wichita reliever Brandon Swift was credited with the win, to go to 3-3. Javy Alvarado took the loss for Marysville. Ken Morita was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 3 save opportunities.
Had Felix Dominguez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Dominguez hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Wolverines.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Dominguez told the Wichita Daily News.
The third-place Wolverines have won 4 in a row.
