| Wolverines Clip Beehive in Tight Contest | In a high-scoring contest between Wichita and Madison, center fielder Gil Keyworth was a difference-maker. Keyworth, who is tied for 5th in the TAA in stolen bases with 24, earned player of the game honors in the 9-8 Wichita win. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Joel Stapleton was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 26 of 30 save opportunities. The Wolverines raised their record to 49-43.
The Wolverines got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Gabriel García. For the game, García went 1-1 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the ninth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Wichita a 9-8 lead.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Keyworth told the Wichita Daily News.
