The San Antonio Storm Troopers buried the Carson City Mustang, 16-2, under a barrage of hits. Takaaki Hirayama led the onslaught, going 3-for-4 for San Antonio. The Storm Troopers, at 51-38, lead by one game in their division.

Though there was little doubt about San Antonio's eventual triumph, catcher Efrain Mejia made a particularly significant contribution in the top of the fifth inning when he hit a bases-clearing double off Bob MacKay. Mejia went 2 for 4 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI.

"We had a nice day," said San Antonio skipper Yen-nien Zhou.
