| Red Bulls Lose, 6-3, at Long Island Stadium | It was a good time at Long Island Stadium, where fans came to watch the Riverside Red Bulls and Long Island Ducks get after it.
Riverside got a terrific game from first baseman Kiyotaka Sugimoto. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Long Island, 6-3. Sugimoto was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Josh Huntsman was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 5 save opportunities.
The Ducks got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jose Lopez. For the game, Lopez was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 13th home run of the season gave Long Island a 5-3 lead.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Lopez told the Long Island Times.
Long Island is now riding a 4-game win streak.
